David Ventura

David Ventura was Director Of Music at Hereford Sixth Form College for fifteen years until he retired from teaching in 2009. During that time he built up the numbers of students taking A level Music and Music Technology and hugely increased the participation in music-making across the college. A major oratorio was performed every year and his bands and orchestras gave regular concerts and took part in tours abroad.

In 1999 the college commissioned David, along with Birmingham's Poet Laureate David Hart to compose a cantata to celebrate the college's 25th anniversary, entitled Song of the Mapmaker, which was performed in the cathedral and involved large numbers of singers from local schools.

David has produced a number of compositions for choir, concert band, songs and ensembles, including a quartet premiered by Andrew Lloyd Webber. He is also a published author of books on music and enjoys singing with Gloucester Choral society and playing piano in both jazz and classical concerts.
