Frances Phillips

Frances Phillips has been composing since 2006, purely for enjoyment. She is a retired GP, and now works as a parish priest. She plays flute and guitar at a basic level, which puts her in a good position to understand and help the people who play in the instrumental band and sing in the community choir which she runs.

She aims most of her work at community choirs, amateur chamber groups and children's choirs and bands. In 2009 one of her SATB folk songs was selected for the Gathering Wave, the community choirs section of the Three Choirs Festival, and was sung in Hereford Cathedral by a choir of 250 people.
In 2010, her setting of a Celtic prayer was chosen for a composition workshop run by Peter Dyke, also in the Cathedral.

The recordings on the website have been made from performances in places as far-flung as Switzerland and Canada - and Leominster and Hereford!
